Ok, here is the deal. I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz Intel Core Duo (not Core 2) with 256 MB X1600 Video and 2GB of RAM.
I am looking for others that can comment on similar upgrades to the new MacBooks just released, any model.
I have owed many laptops from Apple, and this by far has been the worst reliability wise. Screen, Battery, Logic Board, DVD Drive, Battery all replaced and fixed under warranty. (I am a big Apple Fan and all work was handled quickly)
I have been jealous of the newer brighter screens for a while. And since I now work where there is more outside light shining through the windows it leaves me with a dim screen.
I run VMWare (XP) and use that to connect to work via VPN. I don't think performance is horrible with this, Safari, Mail, iTunes all running. I use spaces to separate environments and sometimes find spaces lags when swapping between them.
Areas where I do feel the system is too slow is working with Aperture, or iPhoto (previous version) all on 10.5.2.
More importantly, and I don't this very often but I used Handbrake to RIP a DVD image off MyBook USB drive and it takes hours...
I'm looking for experiences and impressions from those upgrading from similar systems as mine to tell me how they feel the actual usage of the new MacBook Pro's are.
