Hi all,
The boss has all but OK'd me getting a Mac at work (we're all Windows) after my MBP coming to the rescue time and again for quick video editing.
I'm predominantly a web designer, but I find myself doing more video and print work. At the moment, I do all my web and print stuff on my PC, and video stuff on my own MBP. Not bad, but not ideal. Initially I thought I might just get a new decked out MBP and that'd be that.
But now with all this video, I'm rendering a lot the time so I thought a Mac Pro might be the ticket, and on paper it's a no brainer. But real world performance doesn't always work out the same. Sure 8 cores sounds nice, but it's not 4 times a dual core. Will my render times come down dramitically going from say my MBP 2.4ghz 4gb to a Mac Pro Dual 2.8ghz 8gb? I tend to use iMovie for anything that's just going to end up online, but Final Cut Express for DVD etc.
If there's anyone out there with some experience in this I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks
Mark
