Merry Christmas to you all!

I just got my Dad an iPod Touch for Christmas, and he loves it. However, my mother intervined and wondered if my Dad should exchange it for an iPhone since he will be getting a new smart phone for his new business.

I already have an iPhone 1st Gen. with EDGE service. I pay about $70 a month.

Now, if my Dad decides he would like the iPhone 3G instead of the iPod Touch, how much will it minimally cost a month with a plan with 1 iPhone EDGE phone and 1 iPhone 3G?

Thank you! I tried reading AT&T's information, but I couldn't understand it for some reason!

$129.99 (700 minutes for both.)
$20 (data + 200 text for 2G iPhone)
$30 (data for 3G iPhone, does NOT include texts.)

$179.99

But AT&T also has its own text plan for families. Check it all out at http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iphone-info.jsp and http://att.com/iphone

The above price is wrong. The link you provided is $129.99 for both lines with the data plans but doesn't include text...

Talk your dad into getting you a new iPhone as well :D

TheMBC that's incorrect. I have exactly what you are looking for. I gave my 2G iPhone to my mom, and bought a new 3G. We are on a family plan and it runs for the two of us with both unlimited data I think it's around $110-$120, not bad at all for two iPhone's and then we have the rest of our family at $10 a piece with regular phones...

I just upgraded from a RAZR to my iPhone on the family plan. I kept the 200 text messages a month that was on my RAZR, so my plan went up 30 bucks for the data part.

I'm with the others, why not swing two 3G iPhones. :D

Yes, I read it incorrectly. On the first link I showed it says it comes with unlimited data and unlimited mobile to mobile and nights and weekends. But it's SO small.

So it'd be $129.99 + the text plan you want.

Ahhhh ok... I think I'm getting you guys!

So, with 1 iPhone EDGE, and 1 iPhone 3G, it will cost $129 a month for the shared 700 minutes and unlimited data.

The $129 excludes the 3G texts... so it would be $134 a month?

These plan prices are ridiculously over priced! I am amazed at how many people just accept and pay the prices.

My family has 4 phones on it (2 iPhones).

$69.99 for 1,100 shared minutes
$30 for 3 extra lines
$60 for unlimited data (both are 3G)
$25 for family unlimited texting
----

Total of $185/month.

Money should be an issue people. For crap's sake has everyone gone mad? $185 a month for a phone bill.....seriously?

Did you know people pay $10,000 a month for a mortgage?
Did you know people have a big house for no reason?
Why do people buy more than 1 lottery ticket? It only takes 1 to win.

My phone bill is $170. My mom doesn't really get the use out of her data plan, but she does out of voice. And i use the data. Works out perfectly.

We only have a house note as we are debt free.

My wife works, I work two jobs. My second job pays me 20 bucks an hour tax free.

So I think splurging a little on phone plan is not going to hurt.
