Really disappointed with the 4" long screen how is this much of an improvement

As much as I like Mac and Apple. Have been using Mac laptops for years. Been an iPhone user for years too this update particularly with regard to screen size is unacceptable.

Apple use to be about form following function and melding that into an edgy minimalist cool design. Having tried the S3 I'd say the 4.8 inch screen is barely adequate for reasonably enjoyable web browsing.

This long iphone at 4" is something of a joke and really doesn't provide any size benefits over the previous gen iPhone.

Apple sold us on the utility of the smart phone and now they seem to be resting on their laurels and their brand and the legions of Apple fans that will drink whatever cool aid they serve up.

I'm a big Apple fan but utility first. The the larger S3 provides a much better UI for accessing the web, emails etc. And other than talk that's the raison d'etre for a smart phone

4.8 is barely adequate? It's a phone, not a tablet.

I think it should have been 6 inches but in flip for factor such that it is 3:2 so that it is really 3 inches closed

I was holding my baby in the middle of the night thanking Apple that I could use my 4 so easily with one hand.

I agree with the OP, apple could sell fire a pack of cigarette matchbooks to their fans and they would buy it, anything... Call it iFire or something, "New better heat power then your normal matchbook, we even made the stem 0.5 inches longer to better hold it after lighting it."

The 4.0" is a bit of an odd bird, yet I'm glad it's over.

Now those of us who want a full sized modern display have next year to look forward to.

I believe in Apple even it they are acting strange these days. Once they get the distraction of their legal assaults behind them, they should be able to focus and give us something fresh.

Just take one look at the wonderful job J. Ive did with the 2010 MBA, it's a great style that many have already copied. That's proof positive that Apple's not lost it, they just put their best work on hold.

That's the good news about this year, it's not hard to overlook this one at all.

I have a good feeling that next years iPhone will be the one I "want" to buy.

Look I like the Apple Aesthetic I think the MBP and MBP are still far away ahead of the pack in terms of design resolution speed battery life . and that before you even factor in the better OS experience. There is little in PC land that compares with Apples laptop line.

However this long phone form factor. WTF. They should call it the Long Phone or L Phone for short. The screen on the Galaxy S3 provides the device with a much better interface for doing most web based or app activities PERIOD. And the S3 is far from some monster phone or psuedo tablet.

Hey I like Apple and wish the new iPhone could be the great all purpose tool it once was. While the 5 has those features and more imo there are now better tools available.
