a lot of smoother/faster than safari... at least on my ibook g4.

it might not be the standard all around browser that safari is, but i'm using it over safari right now just because it's a lot smoother and faster on my ibook g4.

I didn't know what Shiira was. but I'm now downloading it because it sounds very good :)

I agree! It definitely looks the best out of all the Mac browsers.

Shiira is my second favourite browser for Mac. I prefer it over Safari because it is so streamlined and seems (read: SEEMS) faster than Safari. No empirical testing on my part yet though. :p

I use Camino almost exclusively, although every now and then I will pit my insalled browsers against each other to win the title of "Browser of the Un-determined time period". Camino seems to run the best so far, but it sometimes has trouble playing media files within webpages. It does not load the controls properly and skips when you scroll.

They have also developed a web browser for Dashboard...

Looks wise Shiira has it all, no more Safari metal please.

However both Camino and Safari still seem faster to me as well as Shiira having a few problems rendering some text.

well for me shiira is faster, based on the websites i go to.

for example, on my ibook g4, the forums at sherdog.net lag and i cannot even scroll or click on any buttons for a few seconds until everything loads completely. but on shiira i can scroll almost instanteously.

shiira is great!

Camino renders faster and works with more websites than Safari. No doubts about that. It's not sexy, but it's by far the best browser for Macs.

Shiira has a lot of shortcomings, and a lot of bugs and features they need to indtroduce. Until it has everything Safari does, Safri is the best browser on the market, PERIOD. Well, IMO, anyway.
What features does it lack that Safari does have?

I downloaded it a little earlier to see what all the fuss was about. Very nice so far, although I'm missing the rich-text formatting options in Google mail. It seems speedier than Safari and the tab Exposé is a nice touch (albeit a little slow).

I'll probably still keep Safari as my main browser, but will evaluate this one for a while. I tend to use either Camino or Firefox for gmail as Safari spins up too many beachballs.
