So i just bought a 17" macbook pro and the first day of using the battery life was great. i would get 4 hours maybe more out of it. however, as time went by i would barely get 2 hours. i don't know what is wrong with it can you guys help me out? I'm not getting 8 hours like apple is saying.

Download coconutbattery and post the results

Did you calibrate it? Run the battery life down, and then plug it in. If you don't see any big increment of increase, I suggest going to the Apple Store and demanding a replacement battery. :apple::apple:

okay i just downloaded coconutbattery, and my currently result is current battery charge : 10549, maximum battery charge: 12792

82%

current batter capacity : 12792 mah, original battery capacity : 1300 mah
100%

battery load cycle 4
age of your mac 2 months ( is this normal? i got my mac less than a week ago)

Doesn't sound right at all.. At medium brightness with WiFi on, I get at least 6 hours out of it. And that was before I calibrated it.

Those are pretty bad numbers. Apple will replace your battery for free because it is under 300 cycles. Just take it in and have them replace it.

wtf why is it saying ur MBP is 124 months old? that makes no sense at all......your 13 MBP should not be 10+ years old thats crazy

my Coconut results for my 13" MBP are

I've done I think two full calibrations. (Let the battery drain ALL the way & power off, let it sleep for 5+ hours (overnight) then charge it fully) and I've been getting very good results from my battery :)

I calilbrate it last night and i just pulled the plug right now. it was showing 3:01 at first and now it is showing 2:38. what is wrong with my mbp? why is the battery life so poor? i made a appointment to go in on monday and let see what they say.

oh yeah guys i got another problem. i dont know what i did but the hot keys don't work any more unless you press FN. what can i do to make them work again without pressing FN.

Go to System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, and hit the box labeled, "Use all F1, F2, etc... keys as standard function keys". It's probably checked.

after leaving the battery drain overnight and then charging for over three hours.

coconut results show increased capacity to 98% but I'm still only getting 2 maybe 2 1/2 hours battery life with brightnrss right down and no bluetooth.

I installed parallels and then Xp, don't use it much at all, could this be a factor?

Does it get hot and do the fans start running? It could be a runaway process.

It might be a factor in battery life for when you are using it. When you are not, it does not matter.

hey i just got my mac checked by the genius and they said that the battery is still new and is learning how i function/use with my mac. They said after 2 weeks the battery would go to normal and last longer. ?? can someone back it up?

I have mine two weeks and it seemed fine at the start but has begun to get worse after two weeks of use
