I've finally joined the masses and fallen into the timesuck known as Geektool. I just realized it could help me with one of my major regular acts of forgetfulness, changing my IM status message. I don't want the usual "change my status with QS" or anything, I just want an Applescript or shell command that displays my status message onto the desktop so I don't forget to change it.

I've found ways to "set" the status message, but I don't know enough about Applescript to know how to just display the message as a text string which would then get read by Geektool and placed on my desktop.

Any suggestions?
