Need recommendations for an ultra thin or skin like cover for the back of the iPad air that will work with the Apple smart cover. From what I've seen, the really thin skin ones cover the back and wrap around all four sides. I want one that has the cutout to accommodate the magnetic strip of the Smart Cover.

I want to keep the iPad as light as possible so I just want something that will prevent scratches when I set it down on a table while being able to accommodate the Smart Cover.

Anyone has that kind of set up?

Thanks.

Sounds like you want a skin more than a case. If so check out ZAGG, iCarbons, or Best Skins Ever. Those are some of the more popular brands.

Generally the skins work fine with the smart covers. Might have a slight reduction in magnetic adhesion but not noticeable in my experience.

I had an Incipio Feather cover back when I had the 3rd gen iPad. Thin plastic that covers the back and all the corners, but also fits right around the Smart Cover - worked really well for me.

Looks like amazon has them for the iPad mini for around $20.
