Forgive me for this, I tried searching everywhere and can't find the answer, probably because it's so obvious.

On the specs for the new Studio Display. It says what's in the box is the display and the Thunderbolt cable. How is the device powered? Does it come with a power brick or what?

Fun fact: Every time someone comes up with a "stupid question", it's not a stupid question at all, but a perfectly reasonable and normal one. The real stupid question are coming without any announcement. ?

I have the same question and taking it even further...If I had Studio Display and a M1 MBA, I guess it would be Thunderbolt from laptop to the display...Does that one cable also supply power to laptop? What about accessing a small dock that I have for SD card reader? If I plug that into the Display, will it be accessible by laptop?

Yup, Thunderbolt cable carries power and data too! Anything plugged into the monitor will communicate with the laptop via that one Thunderbolt cable.

Actually that is a good question. If you look to the XDR display, the power cord is listed under "what's in the box".
The Studio display has no power chord listed only the Tb cable.

Shall we understand that Apple is soldering the power chord to the monitor??!! Really ??

If this is true, I will be really concerned about the engineering behind this product

Kind of amazing that a good spec MBP 14in model with the M1 chip is still cheaper than the new Studio. The chip isn't as powerful as the Studio. But it opens up a very nice alternative as a desktop to connect to the display and stick the laptop in a 12 south stand. And then you still have a great laptop when needed as well. And the Display can also power the laptop via the TB cable.

I am confused here. The original question was about the display power cord, not about the thunderbolt or powering attached laptops.

Does somebody knows if the power cord is soldered to the display or it can be detached?

I'm trying to look at pictures and from the Apple store. It's hard to tell, it doesn't look like a the power socket has a soldered in chord?

not sure if this was answered, but linus disconnected in on his latest WAN show.

The manual says it does NOT disconnect, however if you yank extremely hard you can get it out (they thought they might break it when they did it live). Proprietary spring loaded thing. I wonder if it voids the warranty ;)

Not that I'd buy one anyway, but: totally lame.

Another question: why did Macrumors pull its "PSA" about this without warning...
