So I was a Hackintosh user for most of this year until recently I scored a 2011 iMac for £100 (listed as broken hard drive, now sporting a 2TB WD).
Anyway I always use Time Machine for backups regardless of wether I'm using a hack or not. In the past I've restored to a hack and restored to a native from a hack etc.
However this time something has gone tits up.
I've installed a squeaky clean copy of Mavericks on the aforementioned hard drive which has been zeroed. When it's done I've been using migration assistant as usual to transfer my user account and nothing else (no apps or system files) and to begin with it works great.
Then however when I restart the machine it reboots to maximum fans and no audio ( there is no device present in audio preferences) then I get a warning message about FakeSMC.kext. ( which some of you will know is a hack specific kext)
If I look in my extensions folder it is full of Hackintosh required kexts. Question is where the hell are they coming from? They're destabilising the system and messing everything up.
All I want to do is get my user data off the time machine backup and onto my new imac but the ghosts of Hackintoshes past keep appearing.
It's a total mystery as there is absolutely nothing in my user folder which can influence the extensions folder and after the migration routine and before the reboot, the extensions folder is identical to a purely native one.
I even tried copying a friends native extension folder over to my machine followed by a cache rebuild and a permission repair but then the system won't even boot.
I'm on my 4th fresh install today already and losing hope. Could someone please help me understand what's happening here and what I can do about it. A friend suggested that I copy over the contents of my backup manually folder by folder but then the permissions won't work will they?
