OKAY,
Last night my S0's back fell off and was holding on by a string. I used that watch daily since 2015 and it is instrumental for my fitness goals. This afternoon, I went to the Apple Store to see if they could fix it and they told me that all watch hardware repair cannot be done in the store and they would have to send it in for repair..so, since i'm way out of warranty, I just purchased the GPS Series 3.

Well, fiddling with the S0 one last time, the back snapped back on it and for the life of me I can't get it to come back off. It originally came off connected to the charger but it seems to be working now??

I immediately started a small Interval workout using the S3 on my left wrist and the S0 on my right. I was thinking that there would be a drastic change since maybe the sensor on the S0 was damaged since it popped off..

S3:
Active: 394
Total: 455
Avg heart rate: 139

S0:
Active: 372
Total: 433
Avg heart rate: 150

Now, mind you, I have had problems with my S0 not reading the full frame of my heartrate during workouts on various occasions. Even some apps can't read it. Maybe the recent update fixed those issues??

So what should I do? Should I return the S3 and just use the S0 .. or would I be playing with fire by continuously using the S0 despite the hardware issue?

-Thanks.

I would move on from your first generation Apple Watch and take advantage of the Series 3. Reason being, is the Series 3 will see longer support, it has much more upgradable features with the water 50 M resistance, brighter display, improved battery life, faster processor, etc. overall, the series 3 is much more efficient. But you could always use your first generation Apple Watch as a back up.

Or, if you find the S0 is enough for what you require you could take the S3 back and get your money back. Now wait until the next generation watch becomes available.

That's what i'm thinking as well. The speed is noticeable on the S3 but my S0 is not unusable y any means. The only thing that is keeping me from immediately returning the S3 are the future watchOS updates.
