I found the reason..."Urine"!

Yes, Urine.... people who pee and don't wash their hands often find the Macbook discolored. I did a test I took a small drop of urine and let it rest on the palm rest area and the plastic turned pink in 1 hour! I am not kidding! Test if for yourselves...and please wash your hands after coming from the bathroom! ;)

I find your methods rather disturbing. But your hypothesis seems plausible; Urine contains ammonia, and it's a bit acidic itself (which could, in most cases cause discoloration on any plastics). I however, will not be testing this myself ( I have a MBP...and I wouldn't do it anyways).

Regardless of it's correlation with the matter though, you should wash your hands after doing number 1, or 2 for that matter >.>

Maybe, but it is still an acknowledged issue that doesn't occur after the case replacement. To state that this is THE reason, not A reason, seems a little shortsighted.

I can't wait to hear you explain to a Genius what you were doing when you need a new case

OP:I've solved your problem, I know why they get discolored
G: That's nice, it'll be $300+ for a repair

Discoloration .. Urine?

Well.. Same thing..

SWEAT has URIC ACID..

URINE has URIC ACID..

Sweaty palms... and Urine..

Both are the same thing..

At least that's what I can remember form Science class.. Right?
Uric Acid..... ?? lol

:)

I just got Mr. Clean Magic Eraser today and the discoloration came off like dirt. o_o

I surmise that dropping your MB in a pot of paint would discolour it too, but I ain't gonna do it to prove myself right. I can't believe there are people who will put urine on their laptops to test a theory. You need to get out more.
