so with the imminent release of new laptops I'm seriously considering selling my macbook this winter and upgrading to a macbook pro (the lack of a real video card is killing me), hopefully after some of the initial kinks have been worked out.

However, does anyone know if Apple tends to change pricing or offer promos just after the holiday season? Is there any reason to wait until after the holidays to buy a new computer?

Black Friday and refurbished are pretty much the only ways for most consumers to get discounts from Apple.

You can always try other Mac resellers.

yea but I know the "back to school promo" in August/early September is pretty much guarenteed.. is there nothing similar for January?

If not, then no problem... just gives me an excuse to get anew computer earlier :D:p

The back to school promotion is the only time Apple gives such a discount on its own hardware for education.

Black Friday is it for most consumers.
