So I have work on Monday, which is when my watch is to be delivered. Is there any reason against me having it changed to a pickup at a UPS store?

Getting it shipped to a UPS store is no different than to your house. It won't delay your shipment nor will you get it sooner. Unless you change it the last minute. Than it might delay a day.
The only advantage I can see is that if your UPS guy usually shows up late in the afternoon I think you could probably get it sooner that day if you get it at the UPS store. UPS probably has a different route and schedule for the UPS stores vs the residence addresses.
Another reason to go to UPS store if you live in a high crime area. You don't want your watch sitting by your front door all day while you're at work.

I chose ship to store as soon as I got a tracking number and before UPS even had the package in hand. It added a day. Of course, I got my first watch a while ago and that's the one I sent to store (KY to DFW). My second and third watch had longer routes (PA to DFW) so I got tracking numbers sooner for those. I was also told by two employees that it adds a day because it didn't say that when I changed it to the store. It just told me I the morning that it would be delayed due to the change.

Not really but it does add a day to delivery time.

It doesn't for me - I actually get stuff faster (by as many as 8 hours) by having it sent to a UPS location, as long as I request the change before the morning of the delivery. I do have My Choice - maybe that's a factor?

I have MyChoice. Do you send to a UPS retail store or the customer center? Customer center can be picked up earlier.

Mine was supposed to deliver Friday. I am housesitting so I had it sent here instead of my home address. I decided to change it to UPS pick-up because I wasn't sure of the delivery window, don't know the driver or the neighbors, and just felt better not letting them leave it at the door.

They lost the package during sorting to UPS pick up. Could not locate it the entire day, finally turned up in the wrong place that night at about 6pm. Called to have it set aside, was told I could come get it and that they would call me back in 15 minutes. Never got the call.

Called them this morning, and its at the hub, but there is "no one working" today, so I cant go pick it up, and will have to now wait till Monday.

I regret my choice to do the UPS pick up.

Retail store. If I requested the Customer Center I could probably pick up first thing in the morning, but delivery to my local store is usually ready for pickup before 11am. If I have delivery to my house, it won't get here until mid to late afternoon, and often not until 7 in the evening.

I can't think of a single reason to be honest. At least with my local UPS Store, the process was simple and painless. I don't know how "soon" you need to make the change, but I made it as soon as I got the shipping notification. They seem to just throw a sticker on the package and reroute it to the UPS Store. The driver delivers it there first.

The advantage in my experience was I got it much earlier. The UPS store seems to have been one of the first residential delivery's for the day. They received the watch around 9:30 AM, where UPS typically comes to my door around 4-5 PM, and if I miss it I can't pick up at the UPS Depot until around 6.

I was so happy with the experience I just changed that to my default for all UPS packages. I am never home when packages are delieverd, so I can either risk them leaving them (Which they do a lot despite my door being quite visible from the street) or go through the whole pickup thing later that night. Now I just stop by the UPS store on the way home.

I know some people have been able to hold it at their Customer Center (basically the distribution hub for your area) and pick it up first thing since it never goes on a truck. I would call first and ask. My local center doesn't open to the public until early afternoon, so they will pull it off the truck first thing but I would have to wait to pick it up.

I also have a customer service in town. Do you think it would be best to just call UPS and see what they can do? I don't really trust this online delivery change system. The watch is still sitting in Kentucky since 2:30am today

I've always been under the impression that if you redirect your package to a UPS Store that gets it deliveries from the same UPS CC as your home address then it won't add a day.

I make my change requests through the UPS app in my phone and have never had an issue.

I've never had an issue changing it online or in app, either. If you want it to go to the Customer Center just make sure you chose the one with a "-CC" after it. Everything else listed is a UPS Store.

Also be aware that once you change it tracking wont always update. Don't panic, it will show up.

Do they only make one attempt to deliver? What happens if you're not there to sign

At your house they will make 3 attempts, one each day. At the UPS store they will hold it for 5 days, I think, maybe a week, and you just pick it up whenever.

If I choose deliver to CC I can pick up Monday (orginal delivery date) if I try to switch to a closer UPS Store it not available for pickup to Tues.

I can't think of a reason. I have never had any issues with my local pick-up location when I have arranged for my items to be sent there instead of my home.

I had one of the watches re routed to the retail store through the app. It accepted my location. Then the message says UPS will call you, but nobody ever did.

Delivery day afternoon and no calls, so we called UPS. It turned out our retail store does not accept packages, but the app never mentioned it.

I'm picking mine up at the local UPS Customer Center. I'll be there first thing at 9 AM in the morning to get my watch! It's rather painless, I did the same thing for my iPhone 6 Plus launch.

I did it. Didn't have to worry about being home.
The employee asked if I could open it, I did.

Weird. My scenario is different and the same as the third person I quoted.

Looks like you might be the same as flur, but my situation is like caramelhoney. I'm in north Dallas, so it's not like I'm in a rural area or anything.

My situation is the same as yours, but it looks like some people are lucky and can get it the same day.
