My wife and I dumped our iPhone 4s' last week, mainly because it cut our monthly bill in half.

I'm now comparing specs of the 4s with the 5th gen iPod touch. They seem pretty close, but I can't find any comparisons for the cameras.

Are they the same?

In addition to all the other helpful links in this thread, if you find you occasionally miss the "phone" feature of the iphone, you can always get a Google Voice number and download Talkatone, which basically turns an ipod touch into an iphone using "voice over internet protocol." That's what I do and it works pretty well. Also can SMS text with just about anyone. As for the camera, in real world use, I found it to be acceptably close to the iphone 5c. To get some really powerful options with the camera, try SnappyCam.
