After help from the board, I bought a Rebel XT body today with the
Canon 50mm f/1.8 lense... Wow, what a difference!

Now, where do I go from here.
I want to take wide angle shots of ballparks and landscapes.
Tokina 19-35 has been mentioned as a good choice. Any other choices?

Now what do I get for walk around situations where I want some zoom.
What is a good general lens to have on?
My budget is limited too:)

The Sigma 17-70 DC is relatively cheap and a not too bad wideangle walk around lens. The Tamron 17-50 is also compared to it as it has a stable aperture, but less reach. It's also a little bit more expensive.

Probably THE most general purpose lenses are the 17-85 IS USM or the 28 - 135 IS USM but those are more expensive than the models above.
