Rebooting macbook shows multicolor fading and freezes

Anyone have this problem? It happened to me twice so far.. when I reboot the macbook the macbook's screen would have a bunch of different colors and all smeared and fades away and freezes...

Then on my next reboot the screen turns all black and saids press any key to pick up a boot drive.

I reinstalled osx and I'm typing on it right now with no issues.. is this some glitch?
