I just bought an NAS and am trying to store my entire iTunes library on it. I've transferred 250 gigs of music to the drive, but trying to get that into a new iTunes library is taking, literally, days. First it searches for album artwork, then gapless info - all stuff I want, but I don't want my 160 gig MacBook Pro on for 4 days straight.

160 gig laptop, 250 gig library? So, yes, 180 gigs were stored on an external drive before so simply copying over the iTunes folder to the NAS drive won't work. In my haste, I've damaged the original iTunes library anyway, so this information has to be rebuilt.

Does anyone have any tips to what would be the quickest way to rebuild/create my library file? I don't care about plays or ratings at this point.

Thanks so much for any help!
