Hi there!

So I am in the process of sensitively refurbishing a Pismo PowerBook G3... I found one in very, very good physical condition, and while it works perfectly as is I plan on upgrading the HDD and RAM so it can better support a dual boot OSX/OS9 install.

The only thing that is really left is the rather dead battery. While it holds a few minutes of charge, it is basically unusable.

I was wondering if there are any tinkerers in the UK who enjoy rebuilding batteries?! It's completely above my level of expertise, I would probably end up killing myself/frying the machine if I were to even think about trying...

If there is anyone up to the (paid) challenge then let me know! I would love to have a fully working machine that can run on its own charge!

Here she is, for anyone interested! PowerBook G3 (FireWire). 400Mhz/6Gb/128Mb/DVD.

A quick google already has someone replacing the Pismo battery with 9 cells of 18650s.
The good thing about these older PowerBook battery cartridge is that they were so large, a lot of combinations of cells is possible with them.
Yeah, I have gone through this already! While it looks interesting, I am definitely not handy with a soldering iron! I’m wondering if there is anyone out there (preferably UK based) who enjoys doing this as a hobby and wants to take on the challenge in exchange for some £££ and gushing praise!
