I recently moved to the LA area. My monitor M9179LL/A got damaged in the move. My insurance wants to know original purchase price. I bought this in store and can’t find any digital record of this.
I know this is a long shot but
does anyone have a receipt I could use to show purchase price, obviously without any card number or personal info.
thank you Mac community!

More important is the replacement price, what it would take to replace the item with something of equivalent features/value today.

For what it's worth, the original MSRP was $3299 for that SKU per Everymac:

Don't tell the insurance company that today you can pick up a similarly equipped monitor for $500.

:p

Yeah I think I paid $2999 about 10 years ago. They agreed that if I can show any purchase order they can get me that amount. If not they are going to give me what used price is $450

There you have it: replacement value.

The insurance company is acting like an insurance company. They already know that your damaged 10-year-old monitor is not worth its original purchase price. Their actuarians figured this out a long time ago.

My guess is that you aren't the first person ever to file such a claim. They just looked up the Apple SKU in their database and looked at recent activity.

I am not up to date on US laws, but I am pretty sure that this would be insurance fraud.

See about getting a replacement for similar size/features like @Erehy Dobon said. Might end up getting the money for a 30" 4K display instead. But honestly, if you can get $500 for a replacement, or nothing at all, I'd take the $500. Looks like used ones are going for as low as $100 on eBay right now.

We had a similar insurance thing when we had a flood a few years back. They gave us money for the equivalent of the 26" tube TV that got damaged, so it was whatever a 32" TV was worth at the time. Got myself a 40" on sale, it was quite the deal. :p
