New York City.
Phone just came, no receipt in box.. Strange. The mini I ordered came with a print out. I mainly wanted a receipt because I noticed return policies varied from a few posters on here.

Also, wasnt I suppose to get a SIM card opener? Main reason I purchased from apple.

Finally how do I make sure they sent out the Tmobile version. What should I look for on the back of the Iphones box packaging?

I'm not sure at what point these became a hard to find item...

paperclip.jpg

back of phone should say a1428
powering on go into settings then phone general info
ME 486/ Me 487 bl/wht- Part number denotes carrier stock.
if u get Part number MD...LL/a its not tmobile version, just factory unlocked version

A paperclip is not hard to find, so you dont have to be slick! If I knew everything I wouldn't be asking a question. Thank you.

Just a suggestion...you need to develop a thicker skin if you are going to post on MR. Some teasing...even a bit of sarcasm, is endemic here. If you are going to become upset over it and snap back, it will be uncomfortable for you, and tends to generate an even more negative response.

I hope you accept this suggestion in the spirit it was given, and not take offense.

Sorry, all, for going OT!:D

No. Sim tools come when there is no SIM installed. So if you order a AT&T/Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile version there is no sim tool.

So what you are saying is if I ordered one from apple I should have gotten a sim tool? Why is it that I didn't receive one for my iPhone 4S and 5 when I ordered directly from Apple?

Ok, I see it, its a Tmobile version. As for the SIM, during checkout it said it comes with a SIM. Without the trusty "paperclip" I cant check at the moment.

If you ordered an unlocked sim-free phone directly from Apple you should have received the sim tool. If you just ordered a carrier version (AT&T/Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile) through Apple then you don't get one.

What version did you order? Only the unlocked version of the iPhone comes with a SIM tool. If you order the T-Mobile unlocked iPhone, it doesn't because a SIM is pre-installed.

Just got off the phone with Tmobile. Both said you get no sim when you buy Tmobile phone from Apple. Told me to buy one from store. One said there is no prepaid for iphone 5 (false) and I need to buy a sim from tmobile and they will charge me $35 to activate.

The T-Mobile iPhone 5 from Apple comes with a SIM installed. However, it doesn't come with an activation code for prepaid. You might can get them to activate it for prepaid over the phone but it will be difficult. You are better off buying a prepaid kit with activation code from T-Mobile for $10. Then just cut it down.

Thanks. They sell the nano on the site but the guy said there wont be a code. Heading over to Tmobile right now. I dont mind buying one I just wanted to make sure I was buying the right thing. Crossing my fingers.

A little disappointed at Apple. I thought they wanted the user to feel pampered, give little nicknacks the cheap competitors don't include. :( The Jobs era is over.

What is the point of including a sim tool when a pre-registered SIM card is already installed? The unlocked iPhone comes with the sim tool because it doesn't have a SIM card installed.
