When I receive a notification, I raise my wrist to see it. When I lower my wrist, I want the notification to be gone and back to the watch face when I raise my wrist immediately after.

I’ve read about this and still can’t figure this out.

I‘ve gone to this setting...

Return to the clock face

You can choose how long before Apple Watch returns to the clock face from an open app.
  1. Open the Settings app

    on your Apple Watch.
  2. Go to General > Wake Screen, and make sure Wake on Wrist Raise is turned on.
  3. Scroll down and choose when you want your Apple Watch to return to the clock face: Always, After 2 minutes, After 1 hour, or After Crown Press.
By default, the setting you select applies to all apps, but you can choose a custom time for each app. To do so, tap an app on this screen, tap Custom, then choose a setting.

And I’ve chosen “Always.” But when I receive a notification and lower my wrist and then raise it again, the notification is still there.

Any help?

Surely someone has an answer for this. After I receive a notification, and put wrist down, I want that notification to go away and show the watch face. Without having to press the Digital Crown. Anyone?

I think you have to dismiss the notification, whether it be by the digital crown or dismiss it on the watch screen.

The Return to clock face setting description for Always might be vague, as the other options mention a launched app on the watch so the Always option may be for apps on the watch also. I would describe it something like this "Apple Watch will always return to Clock Face after displaying a launched app". Just taking a guess here, so I could very well be wrong.

In my experience this works but it is not immediate, it takes a few seconds for the watch to be sure you are really done with the notification and go back to the home screen.
