Hi guys,

this is the first time for me.

I received a text message saying problems with my payment and I should use the following link. I clicked on the link and opened it on my iPhone Safari but DID NOT enter any details. I closed the tab and then went on google to look for hints and I believe the message is a scam.

I deleted the message now but I am absolutely terrified that I got my iPhone infected now with malware or god knows what.

Does anybody know if there is a potential risk here? Can I do anything to be sure it's safe and I can stop worrying?

Many thanks for your help, I am really not good at that stuff...

You should be ok. If you had entered your information that would be bad. You don't have Malware. You got a phishing message is all.
Thank you very much for your fast reply!
It was from my mobile carrier and "they" asked for email and password, but that's when I got suspicious.

I just feel so stupid because I'm always so suspicious and this time I actually clicked on it, it was just that stupid moment of not being careful and my mind somewhere else...

Thank you.

You might want to go to Settings/Safari and use the "Clear History and Website Data" option to clear out anything the "carrier website" may have put into Safari.

Also, if you are sure the text message was a scam, you can add the sender's number to your iPhone's Blocked Contacts list (if I recall correctly, you can touch the sender's name/number at the top of the text to bring up the Block option).

Very unlikely you have malware if you're running the latest iOS. Generally iOS zero days are worth way too much to burn on phishing links. Unless you're someone high profile who'd be targeted by a nation state you're good.

Clearing website data as mentioned above is a good idea if you're concerned.

For the future, most of the good content blockers for Safari should block phishing links so they don't load even if you aren't thinking and tap them.
