Heaven forbid you have to wait a week and a half to receive a new, top-of-the-line computer that was announced 6 hours ago that thousands if not millions of people around the globe are also ordering.

How long did it take for you to get the confirmation email? I ordered an hour ago and still haven't received it.

Heaven forbid when they announce something and say, "Shipping today" people actually expect that.

I think its a pretty lame bait and switch to promote this as shipping today and now its 5-7 days with no one I know of EVER seeing it listed as shipping today.

This is what I meant aha... I think the 5-7 days thing will be fixed and stuff will be shipping today!!
 
Ordered a retina 15", thunderbolt display 27", wireless keyboard+trackpad and i got confirmation on 28th of June. :)

Can you check what it says under Your Orders in the Apple Store? Mine says processing items and I'm wondering if it needs to get out of that stage before sending out the email.

dear lord, your nick is so charming... :p

btw, why are you buying a 27" display that packs less pixels than the 15" on your laptop? It's a crime to keep this one in clamshell. Just saying... (and don't forget the new magsafe adaptor. The display won't charge the laptop without it.)
 
Well the base ones must be selling well - they are up to 7-10 days for shipping now. Still nothing for pickup anywhere near NYC though - which is how I know about the change in shipping...
 
Shipping estimate in Canada is for Jun 26-28.

A bit later than I'd hoped, but I'm glad to finally have something ordered.

Ah you are correct. 43:19 in the Keynote he does say "Shipping Today". I'm not ordering one but it would be nice for Apple to keep their word. Who knows maybe it will ship today. I've ordered stuff from Apple before that said "Ships in 5-7 days" and it ended up shipping that day. Then again, I've ordered stuff from Apple before that said "Ships same day" and it shipped the next day. Good luck.
 
In the past, I've noticed 5-7 business days usually works out to be more like 3. So don't be surprised if you receive it before the estimated time :)
