Hi, I just received my iPhone 4 from AT&T (bought through AT&T Corporate) and per the serial number, it is a week 14 iPhone 4.

Isn't this very strange that in December 2010 I receive a week 14 (april 2010) iPhone 4 when there were shortages and everybody now is receiving iPhones manufactured in week 45+ or 1-2 weeks before they receive them ???

I'm at work, so I have not checked it out, so what should I look for in terms of making sure it does not have a defect.

BTW, this is my first iphone.

Thanks

I can't open it right now since I'm at work, but the serial number at the sticker on the back says:

88014XXXXXX

aabccdddeef

aa = Factory and Machine ID
b = Year
cc = Production Week
ddd = Unique Identifier
ee = Color (A4=black)
f = size (S=16GB, T=32GB)

Maybe the sticker is wrong or something, but I find this quite odd.

Something seems screwy. I have one of the launch day ones and it's:

82025*******

What does the phone itself report as the serial number? Settings -> General -> About

Like ulbador's, mine is a launch day iPhone and is week 25.

Good to know. Maybe the formula above that I took from another thread is not always accurate.

Anyways, when I get home, I will set it up and confirm the serial number listed under settings.

I will update then.

Thanks guys.
