Received text messages creating a new thread for same contact ?

When none iPhone users send me a picture message I receive them in a separate thread within the messages list of contacts. Even though their number and contact details are the same. However on the iPad the picture messages are within the same text thread. Anyone know why ? Thanks.

Sorry, I don’t know what causes that but I’ve had it happen too.
