Carrier Receiving Verizon Service "Disconnected" message after iOS update

Hi all.


This isn't about me but a friend who has Verizon service with an iPhone 5.
He recently updated his phone to iOS 8.0.1 over the weekend and began having service problems. At first his SMS texts were not going through but his iMessage was fine. He could call out over the weekend but not receive calls. Then he said his outgoing calls were not connecting.

Now when I call him, it give the Verizon wireless message that the number has been "changed, disconnected or is no longer in service." Was the last part a result of the connectivity glitch?

I sent him an iMessage and it said 'delivered' at the bottom but that's not always reliable.


I'm curious to see if this has happened to anyone else.


(This friend is someone I've been dating a long distance for about 5 months. I have other ways of getting in touch with him but not until this weekend)

Apple nuked everything with 8.0.1. It's all over the news. He needs to get 8.0.2.

Sounds like you've been dumped by the crappiest way possible!

As for the "Number has been changed, discounnected, blah blah blah..." thats Verizon/User end and not the 8.0.1 software.. They prob requested the change or hasnt paid the bill.
