That means that it was definitely a plant/manufacturing issue and not an isolated device issue, and that they are in fact using the same screens on both devices.

They've reportedly shut down the factory that was producing the faulty screens, so we'll see if the issue clears.

I hear the screens are slightly different in size (or res?), but looks like they started getting them from the same cheapo place... that's why the iPhone dropped in price, cheaper components and labor.
