I went to the Apple store today and asked a couple employees what recent Mac buyers must do to get their free upgrade to Lion and none of them had the answer. Does anybody know how this will work?

Hey mrat93! Don't worry for getting OS X Lion you need not to go anywhere. It would present in "App store" on your Mac. All you need to do for now is just prepare your Mac for Lion, update latest version of snow leopard (i.e 10.6.8) and find & keep a trusted Mac data recovery software (For me, I trust Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery) near desk of your Mac. You can find more information from here: http://drive-recovery-mac.blogspot.com/2011/07/upgrade-to-os-x-lion-from-mac-app-store.html

What store did you go to? They should all know about the Up to Date program.
