So I got my new 6S Plus today, and backed up my old phone in iCloud (I was still running on iOS )

After I set up my new phone, roughly the last one month of photos have completely gone, which is quite upsetting as some were very important. I had already wiped my old phone because I was giving it to a friend.

Can anyone please help me?

Also for some reason I noticed on a contact I was texting earlier, some of our old chat history has completely gone.

I noticed the same thing with one of my chat histories disappearing. Unfortunately I don't have any solution for you. If at all possible I generally recommend making sure everything is restored before wiping your old phone, but sorry I know that doesn't help you now. If not able to do that then having backups to both a computer and iCloud is a good idea.

You could try restoring again. Definitely make a new backup (or 2) first as you definitely don't want to lose anything more.
