I recently (a week or so ago?) got a supplemental update to 10.14.6 and have had issues with my external display ever since. Sometimes, my MBP will wake from sleep, but the display won't wake. It will say no signal. Other times, the MBP will be asleep and the display will randomly wake. One day, it took half an hour of trying random combinations of unplugging and plugging cables and restarting my MBP to get the display to respond. Another time, the computer wouldn't properly recognize the display and was showing it in system prefs as a projector.

I've pretty much ruled out the display and that particular port being the issue, as I've tried other devices in the same port without issue and have another computer using one of the DP inputs without issue.

Has anyone else experienced this?

The display is a Dell U2518D connected via HDMI.

There have been the following "finals" for Mojave 10.14.6 installers ( not counting the Combo)

( Correct me if I'm mistaken )

1st. Full installer 6.05gb

2nd. Supplemental

3rd. Full 6.05gb installer ( probably includes the Supplemental )

4th. Full installer 6.05gb ( Hopefully Apple fixed existing issues )

I have never seen this behavious from Apple until now.

I installed the 2nd. ( Clean install ) Full installer but not the Supplemental.

=============================================

At this point everything seemed to be OK but over the past week strange things have been happening.

1. Preview & Quicktime Player when started also open ALL older files opened up to a week prior.
Deleting the Preview Container ( User/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview ) fixed this
temporarily but it started happening again after the next cold boot; same with Quicktime
Player.

2. " Empty Bin " changed back to "Empty Trash".

Obviously something has been happening .. gradually . . . . and probably with other Apps that I hadn't come across yet

Not wanting to wait until it gets worse last night I erased an APFS formatted SanDisk 3D SSD and did another CLEAN INSTALL using the " final & latest 4th. in the above list "Full 6.05 gb " installer.

So far, everything is running OK, nothing out of the ordinary.

Either the 1st. full install or the Supplemental had been causing problems with wake from sleep and other incidents - there have been quite a lot of posts regarding this instability.

I recommend re-downloading the current Mojave FULL 6.05gb 10.14.6 installer from the App Store using the " GET " download method for a fresh, clean install on a spare SSD to see whether whatever problems you have been experiencing are fixed.

=============== GET the latest FULL 6.05gb 10.14.6 installer ===============

Bear in mind that sometimes you'll get a message saying " Can't find installer ' or something like that . .. . that means that the Apple servers are busy. Just keep hitting the "GET" button until it finally starts the download.

I also recommend saving the Full installer somewhere safe for any future accidents.

Start the App Store : Search for "Mojave"

GET Mojave.jpg

Having said all of the above, my current new, clean installation of 10.14.6 is running a little faster without any issues than High Sierra . . . . so far :rolleyes:
