Recent tags - Sidebar preferences

Hi, I was tinkering with finder preferences (latest Ventura) and I wonder, what does recent tags in sidebar preferences do? I tick and untick the recent tags option but I cannot see any changes in the sidebar nor anywhere else.

Are you actually tagging files? If not, then you'll see no changes in the sidebar.

I do use tags for personal files. Anyway I found the explanation for this setting. It only shows recent tags that no defined already in the tags menu. Kind of weird setting though

I am having a similar issue adding Pictures to the Favorites sidebar. I check the box but it doesn’t appear afterwards. I was able to do this before the latest update to 13.4.

Any advice is appreciated.
