Thanks to this great forum, I now have a computer I really enjoy: a cMP 5,1 dual 3.33, 32 GB RAM, 3 TB NVMe PCIe SSD, RX580, Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 and running Mojave.
I also have a separate 256 GB SSD with Windows 10 installed in one of the HD slots. I have been reliably dual booting with this setup using Abdyfranco's "Boot Manager," for a long time. I believe the way it works is it calls a script that sets the Windows 10 SSD as the boot drive for next boot only in the EFI.
I use Windows 10 only occasionally, so there are often Windows updates that need to run on startup. About 3 weeks ago I couldn't get it to boot using Boot Manger. No errors thrown, it would just restart and boot back into Mojave. I pulled the PCIe card that hosts the NVMe SSD (Mojave) drive, and IIRC, I got it working by using F8 to boot into safe mode. I'm not sure that was necessary. Once I got it booted, it ran a bunch of updates, and Boot manager resumed working normally, until about a week ago, I got another notice saying Windows Update would need to run on restart.
I restarted into Mojave before I went to bed, and since then Boot Manager is not working to boot off the Windows 10 SSD again. Is something about the Windows Update process causing a problem? Can I maybe modify the Boot Manager script to give Windows Update enough time run?
I can mount the Windows 10 SSD in NTFS for Mac and verify the drive (no errors) in same program.
Any ideas? Thanks!
