I have an original iPhone with the 3.0 OS. I am planning to upgrade to the 3GS model soon, but...

Today, I had the opportunity to compare my reception to that of a 3G iPhone at my office, and my iPhone had the E sign and one bar where the 3G iPhone had No Signal.

Obviously, it would be a bad move to "upgrade" from a phone that has marginal reception- but I can text from my office intermittently- to one with no reception.

Anyone have any similar experience? Advice?

Thanks in advance.

I have had all 3 iphone so far and i would say that 3g>3gS>2g your mileage may vary.

There are 4 iPhones in my office and the signal they get seems pretty random. Sometimes some are better, sometimes others are.

I wouldn't draw any conclusions based on just 2 phones you compared one time.

I upgraded from a 2G to 3GS a couple of weeks ago, and there's really little difference in signal that I see. If anything, the 3GS is marginally better - and call quality is certainly clearer.
