when to recharge your ipod touch

in the battery world, you're only supposed to recharge any batteries when it's practically dead. However, the new age of lithium batteries says otherwise. If it does any harm, it would at the most shorten you're overall battery life by maybe a few hours. It's fine to recharge whenever.

I usually do it when I notice the battery life indicator about halfway down. I charge from my computer's USB port, so I just plug in when I sit down to go online.

For the first few charges, I let it drop to <20% but afterwards I do it whenever I want, need to Sync.

I plug mine in on my bedside table every night.

I haven't had a dead battery yet, and it's playing music or browsing all day.

Low battery sure, but I've never had to sleep it because of battery life! Really impressed with it after my Nano.

When I got my 2nd gen (when it first came out) I went researching and found this:

I keep mine charged for the most part but once a month I "kill" it by letting it go dead and keeping it dead for 5 hours before recharging it.

That doesn't affect the battery, just the measuring device.

Optimal charge level is 40% at a cool temperature to maintain capacity.
