I had my iPod touch unplugged while I was laid up. Naturally the battery died. I plugged it into the computer and recharged it. Then I got a notice of a new version of the software. I attempted to download it, but I got hung up and now the screen shows an itunes symbol with an arrow coming from the image of a USB connector. I have the Ipod connected to the computer through a hub but it is not recognizing the iPod? Any ideas out of this predicament would be appreciated.

Updating the device firmware has always been difficult as you have to be extraordinarily careful while updating and you have to make sure that the process doesn't face any hurdle or you may loose your device. Perhaps, that is what happened to your Ipod. In my personal opinion you have to bring it back to Apple hardware store in order for them to install the new firmware in your device.

Have you tried connecting the iPod to the computer directly?
