Is it possible to rechime too often? Just wondering if it might be harmful in any way. Thanks so much for your help

Rechiming is when you shut down the computer, then turn on again while holding down the command, option plus the p and r keys. It will then shut down and chime again, thus chiming twice. This is done whenever things are not "acting" right. Doing this usually fixes the problem. I guess it is a way of rebooting twice.

This is called resetting the PRAM. Not rechiming. And yes, you can do this as many times as you want. I have held down these buttons so that it makes the chime sound 5 times in a row.
