I am trying to reclaim some disk space on my MacBook Pro. When I go into the system information and it shows me some recommendations, it shows that Mail is using 3.51 GB. I’ve had this for about 5 years or so I think. I may have used the mail app on the MBP very briefly early on, but it has been YEARS since I’ve done that. I’d like to just delete whatever mail is using up this space.

Can anyone tell me how to do this??

How many emails do you have stored?
Do you use POP, or do you use IMAP?

Rob, cast your net a little wider. Stop fixating on Mail!

Run this app and get a second opinion on what is taking up the most space. I find it gives much more information than the info provided by OS X's own app.

Fishrrman— I’m not sure how many I have stored. I’m actually a little puzzled as to how there is so much as I hardly used the native mail app to begin with. I don’t really even want to open it up for fear it may download more from the server. I guess I could disconnect from the internet to see and try deleting it all that way and reduce the risk.

And Komatsu, I will look into that app. It may help me. I do know that one place I may be losing space is in the iMovie app as I’ve done several projects, some that I never finished, and clips I imported to use I think get duplicated and thus use double space.
