My Phillips Combo Drive died, and I am looking for a replacement (my warranty is out). I want to stay away from externals since my MDD has two optical bays already:) guide.apple.com lists drives supported under Panther but most are external. I found MCE DVDR for $149 its 4x on DVD, 16x on CDR. Could anyone comment on MCE quality or give an advice about another product.

I know with a pioneer 05 or 06 you're good to go, but ive have no experience with MCE

you might also check OWC. they've got a fairly good selection of OEM and 3rd party combo drives.
