i'm putting together a little slideshow/video using iphoto, then imovie for titles and idvd to finish it up into a nice little dvd.

i'm having trouble picking the music for it however. anyone have any suggestions?

How about 'I'm a believer', its been re-done a few times, but I like the Smash Mouth version. Its exciting, and upbeat, without being too complicated.

thanks. i was using "how sweet it is" by james taylor but it seemed too sappy.

"hey ya" might be interesting and fun since the video will be shown at a party and i don't really want people to be focusing on matching the lyrics of the song to what's going on screen...know what i mean?

Yeah that's why I used it. Parts of the song mention baby a lot, and the section - about mamma, daddy etc..... works really well surprisingly ;) especially when people are only picking up odd words etc...

oh and I LOVE JAMES TAYLOR - the best artist on the planet :)

If you're looking for upbeat, then these won't work. But if you want some really pretty music then these are wonderful for kids slideshows/videos

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Goodnight My Angel - The King's Singers

over the rainbow by israel, i never knew who did that song and i've always wanted it...thanks i just purchased it. the way he does it is so touching, i liked when they played it on ER when Dr. Mark Green died. I won't use it for the party tho!

I also have lullaby, the billy joel version. that one is melancholy as well.

How about Josh Groban.
You could get some of his more up-beat songs.
Or even you could use "you raise me up"
I use Josh Groban for my slide shows!

If you dont know who he is search him up on itunes (but im pretty sure you know who he is).

Most of his songs are if different languages but they still sound nice.

Also "Walking away" by Life House is nice!

Justin Roberts has pretty cool and interesting songs for kids. I can actually stand to listen to some of this stuff with my kids.

"It's your birthday" would be a natural choice

Hello??????? JOSH GROBAN!!!!

I made two slideshows for parents at the Catalyst Foundation Culture Camps. Here are the songs used:

Time of Your Life - Green Day (last minute change)
Do I Make You Proud - Taylor Hicks (surprisingly good, starts slow but builds in energy)
Sleeping Child - MLTR
(Out of those three, I really like the last one. It's great when you have a lot of sleeping pictures ^_~)

I used two Tarzan songs for the second one, You'll Be In My Heart by Phil Collins and Two Worlds.

The Milky Way upon the heavens
is twinkling just for you
and Mr. Moon he came by
to say goodnight to you

...

Oh my sleeping child
the world's so wild
but you've build your own paradise
That's one reason why
I'll cover you sleeping child

Personally, if you don't mind not having lyrics, I'd go with a piano solo by Jim Brickman =)

"Can't walk before you crawl" - Bright & Boss K
"Milk Bottle Symphony" - Saint Etienne
"Happy Nappy Time" - Swaddling Mama
"Little Me" - Brother T & the Souljourners
"My Baby just cares for me" - Nina Simone
"Small people" - Tumble Tots
"Baby Face" - The Moms & Dads
"Dirty Hands! Dirty Face!" - Al Jolson

(Sorry, I haven't listened to any of them, just loved the titles! :p )

The perfect song

Little Creatures for the Talking Heads...very cute song about a little baby. Google the lyrics...it's perfect.
