Hi there,

I'm running a MBP 13.3 mid 2012 on ML 10.8.3 and now upgrading a Samsung 840 Pro SSD.
Can you please suggest me the best configuration please? I intend to install SSD to Main bay and HDD to the DVD bay, however I'm afraid that:

  1. If HDD is installed at DVD bay, will Sudden Motion Sensor be able to stop that HDD in case of vibration?
  2. Should I enable the function "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible” to sleep HDD?
  3. If SMS isn't functional then I may need to get HDD back to Main bay and install SDD to Optical bay. Will that SSD still reach highest performance (i.e SATA 3 6Gbps

Thank you guys very much!

Haven't done this but from reading others' posts, it looks as though the 2012 has SATA 3 in the optibay so no worries for SSD speed if you put it in there.

Can't help with your other questions, sorry.

1. No. No SMS in the DVD/Optibay.
2. If you want to.
3. Yes, 2012 models have SATAIII in the Optibay.

See my guides in my sig for SSD Tweaking/Performance Enhancements and even a DYI Fusion Drive.
