I've got that superdrive that looks like it will just love to get banged up when I travel to Afghanistan. Any ideas for a case to put it in? Perhaps something that will be slim and fit in my book bag, maybe hold a few other adapters etc?

When I'm traveling and need to bring my SuperDrive (which is quite rare), I put it back into the cardboard box it originally came in and chuck it into my luggage. The box doesn't add took much bulk and offers pretty good protection. Best of all, it's free!

Bubble wrap and packing tape?

Not to be picky as that is the best suggestion yet, but it looks like there is a ton of wasted room in that thing

The iPad mini dimensions are:
7.9" × 5.30" × 0.28" inches
200 × 134.7 × 7.2 mm

The external Superdrive dimensions are:
5.47" x 5.47" x 0.67 inches
139 x 130 x 17mm

Is there a chance that a iPad Mini neoprene sleeve would work? It might be a little tight, but if it's stretchy, maybe it would fit well?

It's worth a shot.

Do a search for "E Book Sleeve". These looks like perfect cases for the Superdrive. Remember, you need a little extra room on top for the cord. These are NOT confirmed to fit, just a suggestion to try out.
