I've never been a fan of those hard cases, but I can't deny that they provide extra protection. I just think they're ugly as hell, why cover all that beautiful Al.

thank you for your replies guys, planning on heading out to the Apple store tomrrow to pick up the see-through case

but im wondering does the Air scratch easily? is a case really necessary? because I dont want to cover it up...its so beautiful

It will protect against dents from drops and what not. Its just gonna be a bit more bulky. If you just want to protect against scratches and dirt, I suggest an invisibleSHIELD

should do the MBA in a manila folder look!
yes there are cases designed to look like manila folders!

OR

i'm probably gonna get a waterfield laptop sleeve for my macbook air http://sfbags.com/

They're abit pricey but I've used their stuff before, and they work great.

:p the steve sleeve is cool, but don't you think it's abit cheesy? But that's just personal preference, I always prefer understated to flashy.

I was a big proponent of the invisibleSHIELD for MacBooks until I'd had mine a few months. It looks snazzy and protects against scratches and such, but the heat from the notebook eventually causes discoloring. (mine turns brown/reddish)

Of course with invisibleSHIELD you get a lifetime warranty so you can remove it and send it back for a new one for the cost of postage, but I'm on my 3rd one in two years and that's getting old. I don't think I'll be shielding my new MacBook Pro. I'll keep using Zagg's products on my iPods though.

That's just my experience. YMMV

Just buy a sleeve to protect from scratches during transport in a bag. Other than that I don't see a reason to put a case on it. As said previously, the plastic will insulate heat. Plus plastic on metal looks odd.

i think it's pretty cool but yes ur right it is a bit cheesy
but i was just recommending it to the OP - u never know, different ppl different strokes - they may like it?
and there certainly are the ppl who buy the air coz it's sexy and flashy
coz it's certain that nobody buys these things for the performance :p

i've had the speck case ( makes your mba fatter and look bad)
im on bestskinever.com ' vinyl right now
keep the sexy look and protect your mba from dings

best protection for the mba imo

think a sleeve is ideal. a case or invis shield detracts from the look. u just want something that'll protect it your bag when youre carrying it from one place to another

i agree I was actually gonna get the see thru spek case but after reading the comments that the air tends to get very hot plastic isnt the way to go

so i have elected to pick up the incase tomrrow once my air arrives :D cant wait

Sleeve

I ordered the Steve Sleeve - I will provide some feedback when it arrives.
