With the current lock down in place I'm working from home with a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop that my work provided me with (only way to access works files).

I'm currently rocking an iMac 5k display but do have a MPB TB for portability. I figured now might be a good time to pick up a monitor to run both the MBP and Lenovo. The limitation being that the Lenovo only has VGA or DisplayPort connectivity - its very old and very underpowered.

I had previously bought the LG 5k display before upgrading my iMac but found my MPB didn't quite have enough oomph to run it smoothly in Capture One and Photoshop i.e fans were constantly running at max and overall performance wasn't matching my previous 4k iMac hence the upgrade to a faster machine.

This week I bought the Benq SW270c 2k Photographer's monitor thinking that the 2k would be a better compromise. It ran beautifully on the Lenovo laptop, but the resolution just wasn't there for my MPB and crispness wasn't as high as I would have liked. Its being returned as had I kept it i knew I'd hardly have used it and didn't want to spend £700 on a monitor for working from home.

So I'm not too sure what my options are? My initial research has led me down the rabbit hole of how Apple does it's scaling etc which just complicates matters even more. For reference I love the way my current 5k iMac looks at the 2880 x 1620 resolution - so thats what I'm hoping to achieve in a monitor.

Budget is about £1,000.

Thanks! I’ll check it out! Can you confirm does your windows machine have the mini DP port? If so how did you connect it to the adaptor?
Yes, my Windows laptop has a mini DP port. Look at the picture at the top of the thread for instructions on what to plug where :)

Awesome! I've ordered one alongside a LG 4K! Heres hoping its a painless experience!
