Recommend me some good 360 Games! (Also... Kinect?)

Hey chaps,

My phone was due an upgrade the other day, so I upgraded it and they gave me a free Xbox 360 (The slim one) and a free Kinect.

What games are the MUST buy ones?

Anything decent out for Kinect yet? Is it a gimmick...? I mean I remember when the Wii first came out and said that was a gimmick but we all know how popular they've become.

Let me know what I should get, im into pretty much anything, FPS, Racing, Soccer games etc.

Kinect's only decent game is Dance Central.

Beyond that, it depends on what you like.

FPS: CoD MW, MW2, BLOPS, Gears of War 1 & 2, Halo Series, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2
RPG: FF XIII, Fable I-III
Action: Assassins Creed I & II & Brotherhood
Racing: Forza, Need for Speed, Burnout

Guys, he said good games, so why are you recommending COD? :p

But good shooters would be the Halo series and Gears of War, there'd be a few more smaller games that are great as well. The Assassin's Creed games are excellent, but a lot of people don't like the first, try it and see if you do, if not you might still like the second. Obviously Forza if you want a realistic sim, but I think a new one is coming out this year? There's just way too many games to recommend with such a vague description of what you want :p

And Dance Central I have only heard good things about, it's for Kinect, so maybe you should check it out.
 
I think CoD has gone downhill, and I only play single player as Multi is just...toss. However, they're still good and can be gotten cheap these days.
 
Yeah, they're not terrible, but there is much better for multiplayer. Though I will admit the campaigns are pretty fun, and COD2/4 are great online.
 
Seems (from what ive been told) that BLOPS is a must.

Im into my soccer games, so PES or FIFA?

Looked at Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit -looks really cool, but im concerned it'll get old real quick. Anyone played this?

The multiplayer is fun as long as you don't take it too seriously...

And Black Ops is worth it just for Nazi Zombies. :D
 
Get Mass Effect 2

Fallout New Vegas is pretty fun too (played through 1/3 of it), though I heard the original Fallout 3 was better (haven't played it though)

And yeah, the Kinect is a gimmick right now but I swear, there's no better party toy out there right now. I had 15 people over at my place this past weekend to go bar hopping and turned on Dance Central to entertain the girls and half the people didn't wanna go anymore. I don't know what it is, but females love Dance Central more than they love purses and shoes.
 
Halo Reach (don't bother with 3, although I heard ODST was decent), but reach is the best.

FIFA 11. Don't have it, but I have heard it's great.

If you like racing, get Forza 3. It's an excellent game, especially if you're into racing sims. If you like arcade style better, check out need for speed and burnout. Both are very fun, and have many games in their series.

As for COD, I'd take it or leave it. It's pretty good, but not my favorite.
 
Ok so yesterday I bought:

Black Ops -so far, great games, actually very challenging online, enjoying it though.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit -awesome graphics, good arcade racer, seems pretty cool.



I like the idea of Halo Reach, thinking about Fifa 11 too. Oh and the Kinect is hilarious!

These 4, in my opinion, are must have 360 games....

Left 4 Dead 1, Crackdown 1, and Geo Wars 1 are all great games as well, but the 2nd version of them is very similar, but better all around. Also, there are 3 Halo games on 360, but I liked ODST the best. This is probably not the consensus with most people, but I really enjoyed it. Halo 3 and Halo Reach are both great games though, and if you like the Halo gameplay style, they are definitely worth playing. And Geometry Wars 2 is just an awesome game. Real fun and addictive, and when you add in the leaderboards and friends scores, it gets super competitive. Good fun.

FIFA all the way. Granted, I play FIFA on a PS3 and tried PES on my friends XBOX, but FIFA blows it out of the water.

After playing Zombies in Call of Duty, I just can't get back into L4D2. Yeah, it's fun, but Zombies is just so much better in every way... imo, of course.

Gears of War is also a solid choice. Really looking forward to Gears 3 in the fall... :)

Just these three games have kept me busy for hundreds of hours.
