Can any nice people recommend a headset that works well with iPhones for simple hands-free call use? I feel like an outlier because I never liked the way bluetooth calls sound. I always get a “digital” sounds I can’t stand. If you would be so kind as to consider my wishlist:
- Wired (plugs into headphone jack of iPhone or the dongle for newer iPhones that creates a jack and power cord port - by the way thanks Apple, really hate the idea of that new setup)
- Has a microphone that extends around the face and comes as close as possible to users mouth. I move around A LOT when I’m on work calls and I feel like certain turns of my head or depending on where I am in my home office cause earpieces or shorter microphones to pick up too much extraneous sounds and lose my voice, so callers ask me to speak up. See images of characters in the movies ALIEN and ALIENS to see what I’m talking about in terms of near mouth (they're slightly different but i think you'll get the idea. Also fine if it’s the cushioned round kind of mic end unless its too bulky round.
- one ear speaker (not like a gaming headset with both ears), preferable with cushioned ear pad
- Obviously, good sound quality on my end, without callers on other end complaining my voice is distorted or hard to hear
I don’t know how well the more obvious brands like Plantronics works with iPhones. Maybe someone has experience. There's also a ton of reviews for headsets on Amazon but there's almost always enough negatives to scare me off.
Side note: Wouldn’t it be cool if there were such a thing as a two ear headset like a gaming headset but one ear piece is removable so you could have both options if you prefer?
(if you know of any other forums where this is likely to be discussed, PLEASE let me know!) Thank you!
Photos are just visual references to the mouthpiece arm, not the rest of the headset
