I recently got one of these for my Studio.
As it's high end, it feels almost like having 2TB in the Studio.
Retail is £1349, but I got it for under £500 from Amazon.

While I have the Acasis USB/4 box with a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB as my startup drive (2,800 R&W speeds), I think it is a waste for file storage.
For my desktop iMac I run 2 @ 4TB San Disk Extreme V2 SSD's in a 8TB RAID and get about 1,500 MB/s R&W speed, all run through a OWC Thunderbolt 4 Hub. Very simple to setup using Apples Disk Utility and yes, you need 2 USB-C cables and 2 TB3/USB-C ports for this. In the original M1 Mac Studio this worked fine using the TB3 back ports, but there was an issue getting this to work with the 2 front USB-C ports, because the 2 ports shared 1 controller that was only 5GB/s, my understanding is that has changed with the M2 Mac Studio. For my M1 Pro MBP on the road, I use a single 4TB SD Extreme V2 and get about 800 MB/s or so for my LR catalogs and there are no slowdown issues at all in either case.
Here is a link to the SSD I use, have been running 2 RAID sets of 8TB each for 18 months with no problems.
FYI, the identical looking SD Extreme PRO is rated for higher transfer speeds and cost more than the Extreme V2 I use, but is a waste on a Mac. It uses a USB-C 2x2 protocol that is not available on Macs. (unless you add a pci-e card.)

Any cheap enclosure from amazon with an NVME drive will be totally fine for what you want to do. Editing 4k braw files from at the moment.
I have an Acasis TB401E enclosure with 2 TB Samsung 980 pro nvme and it works fine as backup drive and as boot drive with Monterey and Ventura, but not with Sonoma. Boot time is more than 3 minutes in this case. It's also worth to mention that the Acasis should be connected when the computer is off, otherwise there are issues when you change the startup disk and reboot.
