My new MBP is great [once apple fixes the screen]. It's fast - so fast I think that the internal fans an barely handle the heat. I play a lot of games, do a lot of VMware multitasking, etc. I really want my new MBP to last 4 years for me.
The point is, it routinely gets up to around 180F daily, and I like to use my laptop [apple calls it a "notebook" to avoid this] on my lap. It can get uncomfortable after awhile. I've been shopping around the internet for a great laptop cooler. I've looked at the Rain Design iLap, but hear that that cushion on the front comes off eventually. I've also looked at the Cooler Master designs, they seems very good, but look like they would dig into your leg after awhile. I've also heard a lot of noise about the Road Tools PodiumPad, but I wonder if you can use it comfortably on your lap without the 360 degree swivel mechanism turning around on you?
I could use help, recommendations, and any knowledge you have on this subject, thank you.
