Because of the way my funds are allocated, I basically have to choose between the 8-Core GPU MacBook Air model with only 8 GB of RAM or the 7-Core model with upgrades to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD. I’m assuming that the extra RAM would future-proof the Air a bit better than just 8 GB of RAM would, but I don’t have a clear understanding of whether the 7-core GPU would create limitations in terms of performance or durability (particularly if the reports are correct that these are basically damaged M1 chips that lost one of their cores) that would offset any future-proofing gains from the additional RAM.

I’m not sure if this question makes sense, but any advice on choosing between a 7 Core GPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD model and a 8 Core GUP, 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD model would be very welcome. Thank you!

I’d take the extra RAM

This is not a fair comparison because Option 1 costs $150 more than Option 2 and is why it is obviously better.

If you’re happy with 256gb hd, just go with ram... starts to even out when you want extra ram and 512hd, in which case the 8core is prob the better choice
