Recommendations for home automation? ...

What hardware and ecosystem would you recommend? We're an iPhone family and I have an Amazon Echo on the way. Would like to maybe use IFTTT as well.

Would like to start with lights.

I'm not too familar with what you mentioned...I have a Bryant MyEvolution (proprietary) for the furnace/air conditioner, Hue lighting, and Sonos to pipe sound through the house. While they are all controllable from one app, I'm quite happy with it. I don't know what interests me next...maybe a couple external web cameras to watch the doors. I don't like the idea of cameras in the house.
